Our family had a great time drinking Capri Sun while exploring the great Oakland outdoors as part of a sponsored post for SocialStars. #CapriSunMomFactor
Summer is here which means moms everywhere are trying to figure out what to do with the kids. Being a mom is a lot like being a concierge, right? Everyone is looking at us to figure out everything from what to eat, to where to go, and what to do, every single day. It’s a role that took me a little while to get used to, but now, I think I’m a pretty good Momcierge. Of course, when the weather starts to get really nice, and there are more hours in the day, I start to feel the pressure. How in the world can I keep this child busy for 15 hours of daylight???? Well, I just dig deep, tap into my #CapriSunMomFactor, and boom…ideas abound!
Pretty confident for a mom whose child just stopped going to school a week ago, huh? Ha! Really, though, I’m committed to creating memories and having fun with my family, so it’s easy to come up with things to do. Seriously, there’s no limit to the Riley Family Adventures! Still working on your momcierge skills? No problem, I’ve got you covered. It’s easy to keep your family busy and engaged all summer long. Just follow this formula, and I can guarantee success (and fun!) every single time.
Let The Kids Have A Say
Ayva is five, and she’s full of awesome ideas. Some of them are a bit out there (No, we can’t go to Disneyland tomorrow), but most of them are pretty darn good. Sometimes parents can be so deep. It’s summer time! Who needs a ton of schedules and guidelines. Kids are great at eliminating all of the red tape and getting down to the most important thing…having fun! Make a list with them, and keep it posted. Whenever you’re short on ideas, pull from their list and go out and be active.
Pack Snacks And Drinks (Seriously. This Is Important.)
You know what can make a fun day not quite as fun? A little kid whining because they’re hungry or thirsty. We don’t ever have to worry about that because Terrence and I always make sure to pack something light for Ayva to snack on and drink. We always carry water bottles with us, but we’ve started to bring Capri Sun juice drink pouches along, too. Capri Sun has 25% less sugar than leading regular juice drinks*, so we feel better about letting her have a treat while we’re out and about than if we were to stop at a convenience store and pick something up. Plus, Capri Sun has no dyes, artificial flavors, or preservatives, and the pouch makes them super duper handy and easy to travel with. Especially since, Riley Family Adventure or not, my husband has a “no spills in my car” policy!
Look For Inspiration Everywhere
Keep your eyes open for inspiration! You never know where an idea for your next family adventure will come from. True story, we were inspired by our Capri Sun to head up into the hills to check out the view of the city. For real! Look on the front of your Capri Sun juice drink pouch. On the Mountain Cooler pouch, you’ll see a bicyclist giving it her all. On the Pacific Cooler juice drink pouch, a group is playing volleyball. There’s a kid on a skateboard on the Coastal Cooler pouch. Listen, experienced momcierge or not, I’ll take ideas from wherever I can find them! Maybe you aren’t inspired by your juice drink pouch box. Maybe your inspiration comes from magazines, billboards, books. Wherever it comes from, just be open to taking action on an idea that you discover from an unlikely place.
Remember The Surprise Factor
Here’s my top secret tip for being a #1 Momcierge. When in doubt, remember the surprise factor. It doesn’t matter what you have planned, if you hype it up and turn it into a surprise, you’ll get double fun points. Just put the kids in the car, and “SURPRISE! We’re going to the library!”, “SURPRISE! We’re off to the playground!”, “SURPRISE! We’re going to eat lunch at the park!” 99% of the time, it doesn’t matter where you’re going (unless it’s the dentist), your child will be excited and game for whatever you have planned!
