You know what I love about football? It doesn’t matter if your team goes to the big game or not, as long as there’s good food, you’re going to have a great time watching it. What? Is that just me? Since my team didn’t even make it to the playoffs, I’ve been consoling myself by taking advantage of the tailgating recipes that folks have been posting lately. A girl’s gotta heal her broken heart in one way or the other! You know what I discovered? If your team doesn’t make it to the big game, cookies and candy will make everything all better. I’m not joking! I put together a fun Cookie Bar with SNICKERS® for my family, and all of our sad red and gold tears dried up.
Since I’m not a sore loser, and even though I’m sure some of you have been rooting for the wrong team all season long, I’m sharing this Big Game Cookie Bar with you. Not only is it perfect for football parties, but you can make one for any get together. I went to Walmart to get a couple of bags of SNICKERS Minis and Skittles® from the candy aisle. I also grabbed some cookies while I was there. The best part of this cookie bar is you don’t have to make the cookies from scratch. It’s not supposed to be stressful. Save the anxiety for the big game! The only thing you really have to do to prepare is chop the Snickers, and make the easy peanut butter spread to put on the cookies. Because the SNICKERS are chock full of peanuts, the spread goes perfectly with it.
Speaking of the spread, here’s how you make it:
HOW TO MAKE THE PEANUT BUTTER SPREAD
-1/3 cup of creamy peanut butter
– 4 tsp. of skim milk
Use a hand mixer to combine the two ingredients until extra smooth and creamy.
PUTTING TOGETHER YOUR COOKIE BAR
Making a cookie bar is incredibly simple. After you make the peanut butter spread, decide how you want to lay everything out. It makes sense to use your team colors if they’re playing in the big game, but if not, general football decorations will work. Once your guests arrive, instruct them to put some of the spread on their cookie and then go crazy with adding deliciousness on top. Since I love SNICKERS so much, by the time I finished chopping them up for the cookie bar, I’d eaten so many of them that I didn’t even make a cookie tart for myself. Everyone else seemed to enjoy them a lot, though!
