I can admit it. I’m a fickle football fan. Three years ago, I bled green for the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, when living in Philly, you don’t have much of a choice. Relocating to Oakland gave me the freedom to pick a team based on their merits and how they resonated with me as a human being. Ah, who am I kidding. I’m a San Francisco 49ers fan because my husband is a 49ers fan, and the decision isn’t really up to me. I mean, when before we got married I was advised to pick my battles. Thus, go Niners!

To prove my love for the team that has my husband’s heart, I’m going to my very first NFL game (thanks to Verizon!) in a couple of weeks to see the 49ers play. In celebration of that, our family and friends got together yesterday to tailgate and craft. The plan was for everyone to make tee-shirts in honor of our favorite team. Well, there was a game on, so the gentlemen excused themselves and the ladies and all of the kids rolled up our sleeves and got our paint on.

There are a couple of things that I discovered during our awesome football painting party. First, Nine is not an appropriate abbreviation for Niners. Supposedly. My mother in law, who is from San Francisco, encouraged me to put a hashtag in front of it. #NINE. Y’all know what it is! The second thing I learned is that when making a team tee with a 3-year-old, he will decide to create a tee for his t-ball team instead of the 49ers. The last thing I found out during our party is even though some of the women might be rooting for the Bears (boo! BOO!!!), they are still super fun and will absolutely make a 49ers craft/tailgating party awesome.

My husband, meanwhile, is relishing in the fact that he totally married the right woman. From the cool San Francisco 49ers Otterbox he got, to the awesome DIY tee (go NINE!), to the fact that I let him know that Verizon NFL Mobile is free to MORE Everything customers for the entire 2014-2015 season, he is winning in the wife department.
