Growing up, I wasn’t a big fan of Halloween. That scary stuff just didn’t do it for me. I did like the candy, but my parents were so strict about how much we got to eat (or didn’t get to eat!) that the sweets wasn’t even a big enough draw to get me excited about it.

Once I had my daughter, I started falling in love with Halloween again. Dressing her up as a little ladybug for her first Halloween was enough to make me give the holiday a second chance. And then, I discovered Halloween themed cocktails. Well, then I was SOLD. Ha!

Really, Halloween brings out the creativity in folks in so many different ways. They make their own costumes, decorate their houses, and craft super delicious cocktails that are full of fun flavors of the season. Since I’m really learning to know what I like in a cocktail, I decided to invent my own spooky concoction, the Wicked Apple Cocktail.

The Wicked Apple Cocktail is perfect for people who like feeling festive but don’t want to overdo it. The drink is sweet thanks to zero calorie Sweet’N Low, but not overly so, since I used unsweetened apple juice. The sparkling water adds a nice fizz that lets you know something special is going on!

Make your own Wicked Apple Cocktail using Sweet’N Low and partake in the Halloween fun without all of the sugar!

-4 oz. Vodka

-8 oz. unsweetened apple juice

-1 packet or 1 tsp. of Sweet’N Low

-a splash of sparkling water (I like Lime flavored for this cocktail!)

-ice cubes

-apples for garnishing

Fill up a cocktail shaker 1/2 way with ice cubes. Add the vodka, apple juice, and Sweet’N Low. Shake the drink for about 30 seconds and pour into a glass over 1 piece of ice. Splash just enough of the sparkling water to give the drink a nice fizz. This is not a strong drink, so you want to be careful not to dilute it with too much ice! Garnish with apple slices and enjoy!

This looks so good. I'm a HUGE fan of Halloween (although I may be bias ;)) and I totally agree that it brings out the creativity in folks! Can't wait to give this drink a try. Seems like the perfect companion for a horror movie marathon.
