When It Comes to Baby Making, Read the Instructions First

This post is brought to you by The Stork OTC and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever thought something was going to be easy, then once you tried to do it, you realized that it might not be as simple a task as you thought it’d be? That’s basically how my fertility journey has been going over the past few months. I never imagined I’d need the apps, the charts, or the books, but I totally do. Apparently, getting pregnant in your late thirties is not quite the same as getting pregnant in your late twenties. We’re not quite at the point where it’s a stressful situation…yet. Before it gets there, I’m doubling down and really taking this “trying to have a baby” thing seriously.

Last year I wrote about The Stork OTC, an over the counter contraception aid that has been cleared by the FDA to be sold to consumers without a prescription. Since then, I had one of the devices, but didn’t use it correctly. Note to self, when a product advices you to read the directions thoroughly BEFORE starting, DO THAT. I’m ready to give it a go again, now, though, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. A recent peer reviewed clinical study that was performed over a ten-month period showed that The Stork OTC home conception kit is more effective at “delivering a higher concentration of sperm to the cervix than natural intercourse when trying to get pregnant.” The study goes on to demonstrate:

• In 85% of participants, the Stork OTC delivered a 3.23x higher value of sperm concentration at the cervix compared to the value of sperm concentration with natural intercourse.

• The remaining 15% of participants saw no change in sperm concentration between The Stork OTC use and the natural intercourse method.

Sounds promising, right? Well, I’m looking forward to giving this baby making thing another shot, and this time, I’ll be sure to read the instructions, first!
