One of the best gifts I ever received was a navy blue skirt suit from my university. I was a member of the Quiz Bowl team, and when we qualified for the national competition one of the team’s advisors drove me to the mall and helped me pick out the suit. She also let me select two blouses in our school color, royal blue and a pair of sensible pumps in order to complete the ensemble. It was my first ever real suit, and I wore it on at least 15 interviews after I got out of school.
You could kind of say that suit was life-changing. Even though I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, and I wasn’t really sure of the career path that I wanted to take, at least I knew I always had something professional and appropriate to wear. That’s kind of a big deal.
Going through a transitional period in life is full of challenges. Whether it’s a young graduate trying to figure out her next steps, a single mom looking to create a better life for her family, or someone who has just gone through a tough time and is trying to get her footing back, the least of a woman’s worries should be what she’s going to wear to an interview or to work each day. Dress For Success understands that.
Vanity Fair + Dress For Success = Buy One, Get One, Give One
Since 1997, Dress For Success has supported over 850,000 who are in a transitional phase in their lives and working towards self-sufficiency. The international not-for-profit organization promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, career development tools and a network of support.
This fall, iconic lingerie brand Vanity Fair has partnered with Dress For Success to support women and give them a foundation for success with the BOGOGO campaign. Vanity Fair is committed to providing 50,000 brand new bras to Dress For Success this year. The BOGOGO program allows women to purchase a bra at a participating retailer and receive one free for themselves. In addition to that, another bra will be donated to Dress For Success! It’s like giving a gift and getting one in return!
The BOGOGO program starts on 9/24/15 at Kohl’s and ends at Belk on 11/8/15. Vanity Fair sent me a gift card to purchase a bra, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to donate to a bra to Dress For Success and to fill out a “Little Lift” encouragement card that will be given to the woman who receives the bra.
Have you been looking for a way to support your fellow sisters? Buy One, Get One, Give One is the perfect chance to do that! Find out more about the promotion by checking out the hashtag #BrasChangeLives and follow Vanity Fair on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or their website.
