Summer is winding down, but the Riley family isn’t letting it get away from us just yet. We’re determined to squeeze every last bit of fun out of the time we have together before school starts that we can. Since Terrence’s job is the most busy during the summer, he hasn’t really had the chance to enjoy the Oakland summer. We’re going away for vacation for a little bit, but then we’ll still have a couple of weeks to whoop it up and make some memories as a family here in the Bay.

Until then, though, Ayva and I are on our own. We’re used to it, though. She’s my little roadie sidekick who is always down to roll out. We’ve been having little adventures all summer long. One day we might go to the beach for a few hours, the next day you can find us at the bowling alley or eating lunch down by the lake. There’s so much to do where we live that we don’t have to travel far to find something fun to do. Oh, and we always find something fun to do!

You know what the key is to our fun times? I’ll let you in our secret!

Be Flexible

Ayva and I are just both really flexible and low-maintenance. We throw a few snacks in a bag, grab our water bottle, and we’re good to go. As long as I have gas in the car, GPS and cell service so I can upload pics to social media, I’m set!

Be Fun

Summer is the time when you can be a little more loose on the rules. Don’t be a stick in the mud, Mama. Take off your shoes and get your feet dirty at the park. Put on a bathing suit and get in the pool. Don’t be so focused on the to-do list that you’re not engaging and having fun.

Be Frugal

We don’t even need to spend a lot of money. I mean, reading books on the beach is free. Playing horseshoes at the lake is free. You can’t put a price on spending quality time together. Speaking of price tags, another way to save money this summer is with Walmart Family Mobile. I purchased the LG Leon LTE phone from Walmart for less than $80. Then I added the Walmart Family Mobile service Unlimited Talk, Text & Data service plan which includes up to 1G of 4G LTE data for $29.88/month for the first line. From the beach to the park to the lake, I had great reception and was able to snap good pics.
