I’m keeping it real in this year’s holiday newsletter! Many thanks to Plum Organics for inspiring and sponsoring this #ParentingUnfiltered moment!
Merry Christmas Friends and Family!
As 2015 comes to a close, I wanted to fill you in on some of this year’s highlights. Everything was perfect and went according to plan. There were no challenges, no issues, and we all got along really well. Some of our most proud moments include:
- Ayva went to bed on time, without stalling, every single night.
- Terrence went along with every idea Brandi had without any resistance.
- The Riley apartment stayed spotless year round (you could eat off of the floor!).
- The Rileys arrived on time for every appointment. In fact, sometimes they were early!
Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating just a bit. Or a lot. Although the year was pretty great, it was far from perfect. Take for example our lovely Hawaiian vacation this summer. As soon as we stepped foot on the airplane headed to paradise, Ayva’s tooth fell out. She went on to lose 3 more this year. I guess you could say it was the Year of the Snaggletooth.
Before that, in the spring, we went to Lake Tahoe to spend some time lounging on the beach. Although it was the middle of May, there was a weird weather thing going on and we ended wearing sweatshirts and thick socks the entire weekend. We still braved the pool a few times, though. Maybe we could start a new trend, a Spring Polar Bear Plunge?
At the beginning of the year, we had a ball at a local amusement park. We had so much fun on all of the rides, and Ayva even got on a few attractions that she had been afraid of before. I also discovered that me and rides that spin around and around don’t REALLY go together well.
All in all, even with the ups and downs, I still look back on this year as being one that was pretty terrific. It reflects the reality of parenting and being a family perfectly. There are good times, and there are bad times, but as long as we’re all together in the end, everything works out!
With Love,
Terrence, Brandi and Ayva
