Christmas is for the kids. The brand new gifts. The sparkling lights. I don’t think anyone would disagree that the best part of the holidays is watching children in awe and wonder the entire season. The first time I put up a Christmas tree in our house was when Ayva was 2. When she came down the steps and saw that 7 ft. tree all covered in lights and ornaments, she gasped. I cried. It’s still one of my most favorite memories ever.
Sadly, there are some families and children who aren’t going to have a Merry Christmas this year. They’re ill, in hospitals, and all they’re asking Santa for is good health. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® is a pediatric facility focused solely on healing children from devastating diseases. A non-profit with the mission of treating children regardless of their ability to pay, they rely on financial support and donations in order to achieve that goal. Kmart has been a great partner to St. Jude, and they are continuing that partnership throughout this holiday season with the 10th annual Thanks and Giving® campaign.
How You Can Help
From now until December 27th, Kmart shoppers and Shop Your Way members can donate to help the children at St. Jude through a $1, $5 or $10 add-on program at check-out in all Kmart stores, or online via Kmart.com/StJude. And, not that anyone needs an incentive to give, but Kmart is giving Shop Your Way members a coupon for five percent back in points on their next qualifying in-store or online merchandise purchase as a thank you.
You can also purchase a St. Jude Bear Ornament for $5 from Kmart, and they will donate $1 from every purchase to the hospital. Kmart has promised a minimum donation of $50,000. In 2013, Kmart gave $21.9 million dollars to St. Jude, and it was the largest single donation made to St. Jude from a corporate partner. Let’s help break that record this year. Remember, Christmas is about the kids.
