Street festivals and Gold Emblem Abound snacks are the perfect combination! This is a sponsored story. #CVSTrailmakers
I’m not ready for the summer to end. Every since school let out a couple of months ago, my family’s schedule has been jam-packed. There’s still something about this time of year that makes every day feel almost like the weekend, though. Yes, we have schedules, but they’re much more loose. Life is just more flexible in the summer.
Before we pack up the bathing suits and tank tops, we’re doing all that we can to have a few more hurrahs. Terrence, Ayva and I have been hitting up every street festival that we can in order to soak up what’s left of the summer. I don’t know what it is about following the crowd up and down the street, checking out vendors and sampling different food and drinks that makes my family stop in our tracks and find a park whenever we happen to pass a street festival.
Street festivals have always been one of my favorite parts of summer. From North Carolina to Philadelphia, and now Northern California, going to street festivals is a great way to get to know the community that you live in. You get to taste regional foods, learn about organizations in the area, and meet local artisans and business owners. If you’re lucky, like we were last week, you might even get a chance to see a magic show or musical performance!
The only downside to our beloved street festivals is that they can be expensive. Every booth offers a different opportunity to spend money, and it can add up quickly. We got smart earlier, and carry water bottles everywhere we go. We also grab a couple of snacks that I can stuff in my big ole mom purse as we’re walking out of the house. Our favorite snacks are, of course, from the Gold Emblem Abound line at CVS. This summer we’ve been especially loving the Fuji Apple & Blueberry Clusters and Greek Yogurt Covered Raisins. They’re light snacks with no artificial flavors or preservatives that keep the hunger away, but don’t fill us up so much that we can’t partake in our favorite street festival foods like corndogs and funnel cakes.
So, even as we reluctantly give up the summer to the start of the school year, at least we have the memories of our street festival adventures. And snacks. We still have our snacks!
