One of the things that I love most about my husband is that he’s so thoughtful. If there’s a greeting card in the store that will make me cry, he finds it. He brings home flowers just because and surprises me with my favorite treats (coffee, chocolate, or wine) when he knows I’ve had a tough day. Yup, my man is a total keeper!
He’s really so sweet all the time that for our 2-year anniversary, I wanted to do something just as special and meaningful for him as the things that he does for me. The thing about Terrence is, as much as he enjoys being close and intimate with me, he’s also a sucker for sentimental gestures and presents. Giving him both would totally make me the wife of the year!
Last year for our anniversary, he bought me a huge beautiful photo album filled with dozens of pictures from our relationship all the way up to our wedding. It was really special, and I love pulling it out and looking through the photographs over and over again. I know how much he cherishes mementos like photos and things, so I decided to create a wedding shadow box with a few items that would remind him of our wedding.
Since we were both so busy this year around our anniversary, we had to do something new to celebrate. Instead of going away, we took a day trip and come home to spend some quality time together.
I knew that the shadow box along with spending a day together eating good food, drinking good wine, and ending with a sensual massage using the K-Y® LOVE Sensuality Pleasure Gel that I purchased at Walmart would absolutely put me on his level when it comes to being romantic and thoughtful! You can find it in the family planning section at Walmart.
The first thing I did was look through my wedding chest to decide what I wanted to put in the shadow box. I’d dried both my bouquet and his boutonniere, and I figured the boutonniere would look great in the box. I added the magnets that were our favors, our DIY program, an invitation and a photo of us on our wedding day. It turned out lovely!
So often, couples are bogged down with what’s going on in the present that they don’t take the time to sit and remember the special moments. I don’t ever want that to be the case with Terrence and me. I want to make sure we’re making an effort to stay connected, always, to the things that made us fall in love with each other in the first place. As I was making the shadow box for him, it gave me time to remember our wedding day and how perfect everything was at that time. It gave me space to sit back and appreciate the moments that we’ve had as a family since then, and I’m more in love with him now than I was even on that day.
