My mother-in-law Mary is a social butterfly, and it’s a good thing because people love spending time with her. It seems like she’s always on the go. When she’s not socializing and having fellowship with friends, she’s vacationing with my father-in-law, and even finds time to work at the church and babysit Ayva. It’s pretty amazing how she finds a way to do it all!

Because she needs to have a lot of energy to get through her packed schedule, Ms. Mary focuses a lot on her health. She goes to the gym often, takes walks, and really watches what she eats. Over the last couple of weeks, she’s been doing a health detox and has remarked at how it’s helped her to perk up and feel even better than normal. Before she started, she shared that she’d like to get a new blender since she would be using it so frequently to whip up the daily smoothies that are a part of the detox program. She needed a machine that could withstand a lot of use over a short period of time. Since I’m a Hamilton Beach Ambassador, I was fortunate to be able to gift her with the Hamilton Beach Wave-Action Blender which is perfect for making smoothies! In return, she shared her detox smoothie recipe with me. Pretty cool, huh?

Simple Detox Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mixed baby greens
  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 peach cut into chunks
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1 cup of water

Directions:

  • Mix greens and water first until well combined.
  • Add the fruit to the green and water mixture. Use the Pure Smoothie Icy Drink button on the Wave-Action Blender until all of the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  • Pour the flax seed into the smoothie and pulse until combined.
  • Drink daily for one week.

Thanks for sharing Ms. Mary’s energy shake. I too make shakes for an extra energy kick in the afternoon. I usually blend together spinach, Greek yogurt, assorted berries and soy milk. I also add a little bit of flax seed in for some Omega-3 goodness! I’ve never put peaches in my shake before so I’m definitely going to give this recipe a try.
