Reluctant Rainy Day Fashion

When it comes to extreme weather conditions, I am a bit of a wuss. I don’t like snow, practically melt when it’s too hot, and can’t stand the rain. My first winter in Philly, I stood in the window and cried real tears when we had a snowstorm. I’m absolutely, without a doubt, a fair weather gal. I have to admit, though, part of the reason that I have such a terrible time with any forecast other than mild is that I’m typically unprepared. It took me nearly a decade in Philadelphia to realize that I needed to wear thermals, a sweatshirt, thicks socks, a big coat, gloves, scarf, and a hat…all at the same time, if I didn’t want to freeze in the winter. I had an umbrella. Once. That I left on the train. Four years ago. And I never bought another one. I have seen my share of wet, rainy days after that umbrella, let me tell you!

Now that I’m in Northern California, I’m determined not to approach weather with the same ridiculous unique approach that I have previously. We are about to go into our rainy season, and I’m getting prepared! My first step was to make sure Ayva was all suited up. At her preschool, they go outside to play even when it’s raining, so I wanted to make sure she was good to go. After going to 7 different stores,  I finally found a raincoat and boats that she could fit and play in. She couldn’t wait for it to rain so that she could wear her little rain gear!

Since Ayva is good to go, it’s time to turn my attention back to myself. I’ve been looking online and I have come up with a couple of looks that I like. However, since I’m a blogger I’m undecided about which boot/jacket combination to choose, I want to ask you all! So, which look do you like?
LOOK #1: A Crazy, Mixed Up, Rainy Day
Oh yes, I mixed plaid and polka dots! Just call me a Fashion Renegade! The boots and the jacket are from Sears. The umbrella is from Eddie Bauer.
LOOK #2: Rainy Day In The Big City
I love these boots from Old Navy, but I wasn’t sure if I’d feel like wearing bright yellow every time it rained. So, in addition to the yellow jacket from Sears, I also chose a jacket from L.L. Bean for those days when I’m not feeling super sunny.

Okay, which look do you like best? Leave a comment and let me know!
