Hey, did you know that June is National Dairy Month? Well, it is, and I’m excited to celebrate by sharing a dairy treat with you that Ayva and I made recently. Ayva really likes all things dairy…milk, yogurt, cheese…you name it, she loves it! I’m so grateful that she loves dairy because, as a toddler, obviously she needs lots of whole milk for healthy brain and body development. I recently made the decision to purchase organic dairy products whenever possible, and that decision has really made me take notice to other ways that I can incorporate organic dairy into our diets.
Every night Ayva and I eat a snack (really, it’s like our dessert because we eat it after dinner) and read her bedtime story. Since it’s starting to get really hot, and we aren’t able to spend as much time outside during the day as usual, we have started to do our bedtime snack and story outside in our backyard in order to get a little fresh air after it cools off in the evening.
Okay, so back to the treat. A few nights ago, Ayva and I had fresh fruit, pound cake and an amazingly delicious and easy yogurt dip for our evening snack! We went to our local Genuardi’s (a Safeway store) to get the ingredients, and put everything together based on a recipe from Raspberry Depot. The base of the dip was creamy Stonyfield Organic yogurt, and we added orange juice concentrate and brown sugar. Oh man, this dip is good!
