Whoa. My blog is 3 years old today. I can hardly believe it. A simple little site that I started to talk about all things mommy has turned into such a defining piece of my life, such a defining piece of me. Life was extraordinarily hectic this past year, so while I wrote a lot less than I did in the previous 2 years, but I did something that was much more important. In the last 12 months, I have really been able to nurture relationships that started because of this blog. From real life events like BlogHer and SoFabCon, to online communities like my beloved Pushing Lovely group, my third year of being Mama Knows It All has been all about the social part of social media.
This year, I pushed through my personal fears and put myself “out there” in the community. I started speaking up instead of just waiting in the wings, and started to find my blogging voice. I graduated from being a novice, and stepped up to help newer bloggers reach their highest potential. This blogging / social media thing is my life, y’all.
Of course, since this is an anniversary post, I have to write the obligatory highlights list. Since the blog is 3, here are my top 3 blogging highlights of the past year:
1. Getting hired by Collective Bias
I’ve written about this before so I won’t get all gushy again. All I’ll say is I LOVE my job.
2. Starting Pushing Lovely with Janeane and Arelis
Janeane, Arelis, and I saw that there was a need for a blogger community that offered authentic support. Our goal from the beginning was to set up a system of reciprocity that allowed all of the community members to get what they need, and to push them to exceed their goals. It’s working.
3. Meeting tons of my most favorite bloggers
Because I attended 5 blogging conferences in the past year, I have had the pleasure of meeting bloggers that I have loved for years. They have all been just as lovely, and unique, and awesome as I had hoped they would be. They inspire me, they make me laugh, and they motivate me to try new stuff. They’re pretty much the bomb.
Happy Anniversary, Mama Knows It All!
