Well, we made it, y’all. The end of another year, and I must say I’m looking forward to starting fresh in 2015. I know some folks make fun of the Happy New Year Peeps, but for some of us, a defined, intentional fresh beginning is super helpful in helping us let go of things that held us back and gives us steam to move forward. So, pass the streamers and noisemakers, because Mama is ready!
Before I leave 2014 behind, though, I wanted to look back on some of the moments that made the year memorable. It’s crazy, really, because this year was so jammed packed that there were some really great moments that happened that I totally forgot about. That’s why reflection is important. It reminds us of blessings, and of lessons, and gives us hope for the future, especially when we’ve gone through tough times.
So, here’s a little recap of MY top 5 moments of 2014 (well, of the events that I shared on the blog):
Terrence is very supportive of my blogging, but he’s extra supportive when he gets to benefit from it as well. Ha! Thanks to a partnership with Verizon, I was able to host a fun party with my family and friends and take my loving husband to a 49ers game! We had fantastic seats, and I really enjoyed rooting on our team at my first live NFL game!
Although Ayva did do a few weeks of summer camp, we did get to spend a ton of time together. The coolest part of the summer, though, was that she took swimming lessons! She started the year off afraid of getting in the water, and was practically doing canon balls into the pool by the end of the summer.
Our entire family was really pumped for this major event in our lives. I mean, KINDERGARTEN? That’s kind of a big deal, you know? Ayva handled the transition like a champ, and I’m glad to report that so did Mama.
2014 was the year of “Are you serious?” for me in terms of experiences. Taking my family to Disneyland for the Disney Social Media Moms event and running through Disneyland before they opened? Are you serious? Coca-Cola inviting me to be their guest at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this summer? Are you SERIOUS? 2015 is going to have to work hard to top this year!
Sometimes, dreams do come true.
