This weekend was super fun for Ayva and me! Not only were we out and about every single day, but we also were able to check out the brand new movie, “The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That! Tricks and Treats!” and make a Boo Bag…or in our case, a Boo Pumpkin, for our neighbor!
Our Saturday started off as it always does, at Walmart, where we picked up all of the makings for a super stuffed, super awesome Boo Pumpkin. Fun sized Snickers and M&M’s were the foundation of our surprise, and we rounded things out with some Milky Way and fun trinkets like a coloring book, stickers and spooky straws. When we got home to put it all together, Ayva was so excited about the surprise that she didn’t even ask to eat any of the candy! Even at 2 years old, she’s already experiencing the old saying, “It’s better to give than receive”!
Later on, in keeping with the Halloween spirit, I went to Redbox at the supermarket and picked up “The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That! Tricks and Treats!” Ayva loves the show when she gets to watch it, and this video, with 3 stories running at about 35 minutes, was short enough to keep her attention, and get her even more excited about Halloween and leaving the Boo Pumpkin on our neighbor’s porch! When I first reserved the movie on the computer before going to pick it up, I had a feeling that I would be purchasing the movie after we watched it. I was right. We definitely need to own it! Have you ever done a Boo Bag before? Who did you boo? This was our first time, and it’s really cool to be able to teach Ayva about giving to others all times of the year!
