I’m sharing stories of toughness thanks to a partnership with Brawny®.

how to make a rock bracelet

My family is going through a really hard time right now. One of my family members is very sick, and it’s just super challenging to deal with it. My sister, especially, is managing the brunt of everything. Over the past few months, she has had to be stronger than she’s ever had to be before. I’m incredibly proud of the way that she’s been able to keep things moving and get things done even through everything that is going on with our beloved family member. She’s proving to herself (and everyone who’s watching her) that she is, indeed, strong to the core.

When things are going well in life, it’s easy to forget where you came from, and what you’ve been through. It’s the tough times that build character and show you what you’re made of. I’m headed to North Carolina in a couple of days to be with my family, and I wanted to make something that would encourage my sister and help her to remember how strong she is, even after she makes it through this hard time. I made her this simple “Rock Strong” Bracelet. The hemp is thin, but resilient. You can bend it, twist it, and pull it, but it still won’t break. The simple rock in the middle represents strength.

Here’s how you make it:

  • Crochet a single strand using 48 lb. weight hemp cord. Knot both ends of the strand once you reach your desired bracelet length.
  • Use a piece of wire or elastic to attach a rock bead to the middle of the bracelet.
  • Tie the ends of the single strand to form a bracelet.

Yup. Tough to the core. That’s what my sister is. Do you know anyone who is strong and tough, too? Brawny® is sharing the stories of everyday heroes and other tough folks. We sometimes need reminders of the strength in others and our selves. Thank you for this reminder.

What a thoughtful gesture and I’m sure the acknowledgment will help to boost her. Being the strong one is hard, so having loved one show you that see it, respect it and appreciate it is priceless. Safe travels!

I’m praying for your family in this difficult time. It’s a blessing that your sister doesn’t have to be strong alone. This is such a thoughtful gift. I pray it gives her comfort and strength, and happy thoughts of the sister who loves her so much, every time she wears it.

I know your sister is going to treasure that bracelet, and be reminded of just how tough she is every time she looks at it.

The bracelet is adorable. I loved crocheting with my girls when they were younger. My oldest learned to love it and make dishcloths for people and sell them. I’d wear this bracelet.

I love that you can bend this but it won’t break! We are stronger than we think at times. Sometimes having to overcome an obstacle will remind us of our strength.

This is so beautifully written. I’m sure your sister will love her bracelet, and that it’s a representation of how strong she’s been lately. Sending much love to you and her.

It is amazing how strong we are when we just let go and do what needs to be done. I am sorry to hear about the sad times with your family right now and pray your sister’s strength holds on until someone can give her a break. My strong person is my eldest daughter who is a freshman at college who had some trying times but found a way to hang ono and keep moving forward.
