Little actions can make a big impact! Learn more in this #OBelievers post as part of an o.b.® sponsored series for Socialstars™
Have you ever felt incredibly overwhelmed by your goals? Like, your dreams are so big, that it seems like you will never be able to fulfill them? I feel like that, and often. In the past, I would let that feeling consume me and stop me from moving forward with the actions that would actually help me reach the finish line. Over the last few years, though, I’ve learned how to overcome being overwhelmed and have put a productivity practice in action that have been a tremendous help.
Do one small thing each day.
Even though my goals are big, I’ve come to realize that the best way to reach them is to break the huge thing into smaller tasks. So, a month-long video series turns into “publish one video each day”, and a clutter free house becomes “clean out the top dresser drawer”. Every single day, one thing becomes two things, and before I know it, I’ve reached my goal.
At the beginning of this year, I made a vision board that showed all of the things that I wanted to accomplish this year. I want to grow my community, Courage to Earn, buy a house, and expand our family. I’m still a bit away from completion on those things, but I’m intentional about doing something that moves me forward and gets me near the prize. It doesn’t matter how small the action is, either. Regardless of the size of the task, once it’s complete, I’m closer to the end than I was before I started. Every action doesn’t have to be epic. I have to remind myself of that all the time.
Still don’t believe me? Since metaphors sometimes help to drive the point home, let’s think about how o.b.® Tampons work. Even though they’re tiny and discrete, they still do big work by helping to stop leaks by expanding all around to fit a woman’s unique shape. The Fluid Lock® grooves lock in leak protection, and prove that good things can come in small packages. Your tampon doesn’t have to be huge to make a big impact, and neither do the steps you take to reach your goals.
What’s one small thing you can today to get closer to your goal?
