I Let Down My Guard And Caught A Cold

I’m sharing how to prevent the flu this cold and flu season featuring Zep as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars. #ZepSocialstars

Back when I lived in Philadelphia, I’d pride myself on my ability to not get sick. It was a gift, really, to go through an entire snowy, wintery season with not one cold. Just thinking back on those days makes me want to brush off my shoulders and do a little peacock walk across the room. Except, I can’t. Because I’m sick. Yup, even though I live in a place where the current temperature is 52 degrees and that’s the lowest it’s been in the last 3 weeks, I’m out on my butt with a cold that just won’t go away.

I’m all sorts of confused over this, too. How could something like this happen to someone like me? I’m not like the rest of y’all! I’m immune to colds! Or so I thought. After laying in bed the other day alternately shivering and sweating, I realized that since moving to a warmer climate, I got a little lazy when it came to taking the precautions necessary to ensure a clean bill of health all year long. In my Philly days, I was constantly washing my hands, using sanitizer and wiping down doorknobs and other germ magnets. I was relentless and didn’t even stop when the summer came around. Now, I casually open doors as if there aren’t a million cold and flu bugs just waiting to take me down.

And take me down they did. But I refuse to let them take my family down. Even though I’m not feeling well, I’m still working to make sure my family is protected from my icky germs. The first thing is making sure to wipe everything in the house down with Zep Quick Clean Disinfectant and Antibacterial Disinfectant Cleaner with LemonBoth of these products meet the CDC’s recommendation for EPA registered, hospital grade disinfectants. When we’re talking about my family’s health, I’m definitely going to take the advice of the Center For Disease Control. That’s just smart!

Other things I’m doing is making sure to dump the trash cans with my snotty (isn’t that a yucky word!) tissues frequently, sneeze in my ELBOW (come on folks, don’t sneeze in your hands), and washing my hands often. The cold may have gotten to me, but the buck stops here. I’m armed with my Zep Quick Clean Disinfectant, soap, and hand sanitizer, and I’m not afraid to use them!
