When it comes to Christmas lights, I’m like a moth to a flame. I just can’t stay away! The Christmas season is my time of the year because I can’t get enough of the decorations, or the music,or the Christmas spirit. I’m always looking for places to go to put me in that special mood, and y’all, I have found the perfect place right here in the Bay! You don’t have to go all the way to the North Pole for snow, cookies with Mrs. Claus, or to see Santa. You can get all that and more at Great America’s Winterfest!

About Great America’s Winterfest

Great America’s first ever Winterfest is seriously like stepping into a winter wonderland. My family went on opening weekend last week and had the time of our lives! The first thing that caught our eye was the huge Christmas tree right in the front that was covered in twinkling lights. We made sure to hang out to catch the festive tree lighting ceremony, and I’m so glad we did. To see one of the largest Christmas trees in the Bay Area all lit up after a enthusiastic countdown definitely put us in the holiday spirit. The best part about the tree lighting ceremony is that they do it every night at 5:30 PM. You will not want to miss it!

After the tree lighting ceremony, Ayva, Terrence and I explored the park with our mouths wide open in awe. There was ice skating, carolers, and our favorite holiday characters like Snoopy Claus, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Santa’s elves. There were even real reindeer! Even though we didn’t see Rudolph, seeing his buddies up close and personal was still a treat.

Speaking of treats, everyone knows the best part of the holidays is the food, and there are so many of our favorite Christmas treats everywhere you turn at Great America’s Winterfest. There’s peppermint churros, eggnog funnel cake, cookies, a turkey dinner sandwich, and all-you-can drink hot chocolate. I can’t even tell you how many cups of cocoa we had, but just know that we had plenty. Ha!
