Fall Leaf Collage

Today was a day of firsts. Not only is the start of fall, but Ayva and her kindergarten classmates went on their first elementary school field trip, too. The class appropriately went on a nature walk and collected leaves, sticks and rocks. Ayva wouldn’t tell me what they did with the leaves (“It’s a surprise, Mom!”), so as a consolation prize to me, she agreed to create a different craft for me.

This fall leaf collage is incredibly easy. I used kraft paper to cover the top of a gift box that I cut. Then Ayva used crayons and marker to draw an outdoor scene. She started by drawing the tree trunk as a focal point for the picture. There were butterflies, fireflies, flowers, and a rainbow. Talk about detail! After Ayva drew her scene, she glued leaves that we’d picked yesterday (note to self: next time, use the leaves the same day we pick them!) on the branches.

The result is an incredibly beautiful 3-dimensional collage. Happy Fall, y’all!

Love this and it’s super simple. Our boy loves jumping into the leaves, stomping them and listening to them crunch under his feet.
You’ve inspired me to grab some and show him how to turn them into art.

This is so cute, Brandi and Ayva! Might have to create one of these with my Jaden. He’d love it. Thanks so much for sharing at Inspire Me Wednesday. Featuring you in this week’s issue.
