Have you ever been so overwhelmed with happiness that you just have to cry? That’s how I felt earlier today. I took Ayva to an event at the Academy of Natural Sciences, and we were having such a good time that as I was buckling her in her stroller to leave, I felt so filled with gratitude for God blessing me with such a fun little girl, that my eyes filled up with tears, and that was all she wrote! Honey, I was in that coatroom laughing and crying and kissing and hugging my baby girl…I know people had to think I was crazy!
It’s cool, though, because, I’m used to people thinking I’m crazy. People see me dealing with different challenges on a daily basis…money stuff (daycare and housing…that’s just about the extent of it!), work stuff (just give me the new position already!), family stuff (single mama seeks honest, loyal, family man)..and they think I’m crazy because despite all of these challenges, I work hard to stay positive and to seek happiness and success.
Well, they might think I’m crazy, but let me tell you something about seeking happiness and success. Eventually, it will find you! Happiness found me this morning in the coatroom at the Academy of Natural Sciences, and success found me this afternoon. I am pleased to share that I am one of 15 women across the country that has been chosen to be an iVoices reporter with iVillage!
iVoices is all about sharing stories about issues that are relevant to women…the crazy, happy, sad, positive, negative, terrible, wonderful things that define us, and shape us, and make us who we are! Well, today, I’d like to share that I am happy, I am overwhelmed, I am successful. Call me crazy, but I’m cool with that!
