Even before we moved to California, I’ve loved gardens. I’d go to the big Flower Show in Philadelphia every year, and try my hand at keeping plants alive in my urban home. Upon relocating to California, I discovered a totally different garden and landscaping style that completely reflects the lovely state we live in. It also reflects the fact that we’re in a perpetual drought.

I know, it’s such a bummer, right? Fortunately, just because we’re working to conserve water, it doesn’t mean that folks have to give up their beautiful gardens. I’ve been seeing a lot of succulent based gardens in our neighborhood, and some of my friends have shared how they’re learning to save money and water by installing a dripline. According to Rain Bird, some of the benefits of dripline irrigation are that it allows you to waters each plant, not the surrounding soil. It irrigates precisely where you need it, eliminates overspray, and there’s less evaporation which conserves water.
