This summer is going to be epic for a couple of reasons. First, it’s Ayva’s first official break from school. She’s finishing up kindergarten in a couple of weeks, so starting now her summer vacations will be a lot more meaningful. Also, 2015 marks the 40th season of California Great America! I didn’t have the pleasure of growing up in the Bay Area and going to California Great America every year, so I have to make up for a lot of lost time! California Great America has fast become one of my most favorite amusement parks. It’s really perfect for our family. There’s a great mix of attractions for all age groups, and we don’t have to spend a ton of money to have an entire day’s worth of fun.
Terrence, Ayva and I were invited to California Great America last week to check out Boomerang Bay, California Great America’s waterpark. While the waterpark wasn’t open when we visited, it has since opened and will be open during park hours for the entire summer. Boomerang Bay admission is included in the park admission, so it’s like getting two parks for the price of one! Oh, and California Great America definitely understands that Northern California is a drought. All of the water in Boomerang Bay is recycled and reused through the park.
California Great America will celebrate opening weekend on May 28-29. When you go, make sure you check out how awesome Planet Snoopy looks! There are a few new attractions, lots of really fun signs and other decorations, and the entire area just feels modern and fresh. For more information about California Great America, check out their website, or follow them on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Make sure you tag them when you go to the park and share pics, too! They’re awesome about replying!
