You’re Busy, But Breakfast Is Still Important

Thanks to Honey Bunches of Oats for sponsoring this post on the importance of fitting breakfast in!

Has December always been this busy? It seems like there’s something on my schedule every day this month. It’s not just me, either. From holiday parties to school presentations and other events, Terrence and Ayva have a lot going on, too! I have to confess that we’ve been doing a lot more eating out because there just isn’t time to cook. When it’s 8:00 PM and no one in the family has eaten, yet, that’s bound to happen.

The one place where we don’t play around, though, is breakfast. I make sure Ayva puts something on her stomach before she heads out of the house. With all that she has going on, I know how important it is for her to eat in order to be able to concentrate and be at her best. Instead of feeling guilty that we’re often rushing out of the house so I can’t make bacon and eggs everyday, I keep cereal in the house. She gets to choose her favorite brand, and depending on how much time we have, she’ll either eat the cereal with some low-fat milk, or toss dry cereal in a container and eat it in the car (with a mandarin orange or apple slices) in the car.

One of Ayva’s favorite brands is Honey Bunches of Oats. With its oat clusters, crunchy flakes, and touch of honey, it’s no wonder I have to tell her to “Get a bowl, Ayva!” just about every morning. This little girl would eat it straight out of the box if I let her!

While I’m not a cereal for breakfast person myself, I have been known to pour a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats for dessert or as a snack. Something about it makes me feels less guilty than if I were to eat a pint of ice cream!

What do you normally eat for breakfast?
