Prissy On The Moon by Dolores Andral (illustrated by Vladimir Andral) is a fun book for little girls. Prissy is a little girl with a huge imagination. One boring day, Prissy decides to pretend that she’s on the moon. On the moon, Prissy can be as loud as she wants! Since she’s tired of being told to sit and be quiet, she thinks that’s the perfect place for her to go. Her family isn’t quite sold on the idea. She annoys her brothers, her poppa tells her to stop jumping on the furniture, and her Mama doesn’t seem to like when Prissy’s “spaceship” bumps into her. It takes a special treat to bring Prissy back down to earth, and she thinks it’s totally worth it.
Dolores Andral has written a very sweet book that’s perfect both to read at bedtime, and as a foundation for a lot of imaginative play. The book is great for early readers, and Ayva was able to recognize many of the words throughout the book. She also memorized it fairly quickly, and has read it to me over and over again.
If you’re looking for a book featuring a diverse character that is doing every day kid things, I absolutely recommend Prissy On The Moon! Everything from the pictures to the story made Ayva and me smile. 🙂 Read more about Ms. Andral and Prissy on her website.
