My family and friends here in California love to get together. I’m an introvert, so it took awhile for me to get into the swing of things. Folks were so patient with me, though, and understanding as I took a little bit of time to warm up. Now, believe it or not, I’ve joined them in thinking of ways to get everyone together to fellowship and spend time together! This past weekend, I hosted a 49ers Crafting / Tailgating party at my in-laws house. You can’t tailgate without snacks, so as Terrence and I started making a list of things that we’d need to buy, we remembered that some of our friends have dietary issues. Cheese and crackers is no good when you’re gluten intolerant and can’t eat the crackers. That’s where our Gold Emblem Abound snacks came in.
Not only are the products in the Gold Emblem Abound line free from artificial preservatives, colors and flavors, they also have delicious gluten free options to choose from! When one of our younger guests said to me sadly, “Oh, I can’t eat crackers”, I was so happy to have another option for him. The Sea Salt Baked Rice Thins are outrageously addictive, and taste great with salami and cheese. The Lime and Black Pepper Flavored Rice Thins are even more delicious—which is why I accidentally ate them all before the party. Oops!
When folks think tailgating, heavy, junky foods often come to mind, but that totally doesn’t have to be the case. The Rice Thins have just as much crunch and flavor as potato chips. I know folks sometimes balk when healthier options are compared to not as good for you option, but how’s this for proof that better snacks can hold their own at tailgating parties: We had plenty of cupcakes left after our party this weekend, but every single morsel of TWO BAGS of the Gold Emblem Abound Dark Chocolate, Fruit & Nut Trail Mix was gone. I’m just sayin’.
Whether you’re switching out a few of your snacks with better choices, or you’re eliminating junk food completely, just know that there are delicious options out there at affordable prices. None of our snacks cost over $5.00, and you can often get coupons or use ExtraCare savings to make them even more affordable!
What is tip that you have for making tailgating healthier? I’d love for you to leave your ideas below!
I love the Gold Emblem Abound products, so I wanted to share them with you. I am not being compensated for this post at all. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.
That Lime and Black Pepper sounds delicious!! I’m definitely going to buy them. I love the snacks at CVS and as much as we tailgate, why didn’t I think to include them in the party food line up? That’s a great idea!
I’ve only ever seen the Sea Salt rice thins and they are yummy!! I need to search for the Lime and Black Pepper version. We when prep for the game, we love having bite size munchies. Two of my new favorites are veggie straws and sweet potato chips.
Taya, once you get the Lime and Black Pepper ones, you’re going to go crazy. They are so good! @MrsTDJ:disqus
I L.O.V.E. these Abound snacks. I think my least fav was the Chocolate Chunk & Chia Snack Bar. Everything else was slamming. And if wellness is a priority, you need items like this in your arsenal.I love these snacks. Oh yes, I already said that. In truth I scoured the universe looking for an agency connect after meeting them at Blogher Food because I wanted to write about too but without success. He y’all, hollah back.
Oh, they totally fit in with your healthy lifestyle! @patricia_patton:disqus
Look here. I finally got my hands on that trail mix and it’s my new late night snack! It’s perfect for game day, too. You look like you had a great time with your family!
GIRL..that trail mix is DANGEROUS!!! LOL! @Amiyrah:disqus
All of the snacks sound fantastic. You had me that none of them cost more than $5. Will definitely be on the look out.
Yup! I love an inexpensive snack, @kaicongroup:disqus
I love including lots of fresh fruit at our parties, helps not only the guests, but me too…otherwise I tend to go a little crazy snacking on bad stuff. (PS- I love that huge aloe vera plant in the last photo!)
