Heating pads are perfect because you don’t have to worry about getting a prescription from a doctor, and they come at all price points.

Still, if you have a child using the heating pad for cramps, you’ll want to ensure they understand the different temperature settings so they don’t get burned.

The benefits of using a heating pad for period cramps

Heating pads work to relieve cramps by increasing blood flow and circulation.

They ease muscle contractions and the warmth feels so good and cozy, y’all!

If you’re not interested in taking pain medications for your cramps, a heating pad is an accessible option for relief.

How to use a heating pad for cramp relief

If you suffer from cramps, you know how painful they can be.

A heating pad will ease the discomfort of period cramps fairly quickly.

When applied correctly, a heating pad can help reduce swelling and inflammation, which means less period pain.

How you use the heating pad is going to depend on the type you get, so you’ll want to read the manufacturer’s instructions.

The most important tip for using a heating pad that I have is to make sure you’re extra aware of the temperature.

You may not want the heating pad directly on your skin, as you could get burned or your skin could get irritated.

How long can I wear a heating pad?

Check the instructions for the heating pad you purchase for information on how long that particular product should be worn.

It will be different for every heating pad based on the available temperature and other features.

Typically, though, my daughter and I will wear a heating pad for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to feel relief.

Where do a put a heating pad?

Depending on where your cramps are, you can put the heating pad on your abdomen or on your back.

Occasionally I experience period pain in my legs, and I’ll put the heating pad there, too.

Is a heating pad better than a hot water bag?

A heating pad isn’t better than a hot water bag, it’s just different.

They’re both good options. It’s up to you and your preference.

The best period heating pads for cramp relief will be the best one for YOU.

Even if someone else prefers one over another, it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work for you and your lifestyle.

I prefer a heating pad because there are so many portable options and I tend to use them at home and on the go when I’m cramping.

Because I have some anxiety, too, the idea of the water dripping out of the hot water bag stresses me out, and I don’t like when the water cools off and the bag isn’t hot anymore.
