You’d think I’d be used to it by now. By the grace of God, it’s been happening every May 7th since 2009, and yet I’m still in awe of the miracle that is my child’s birthday. I mean, when you really stop and think about it, a child grew in my womb. A human being that can walk and talk and READ came from my body! Six years later and it’s still amazing to me.
Ayva is six.
Yeah. Just amazing.
This year has been one of tremendous growth for my baby girl. Not only did she finish preschool and start kindergarten, but she learned a lot of life skills that makes me think the guy who said, “Everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten”, was right. Ayva has learned how to tie her shoes, how to do math problems, and homegirl can even read! Last night, I went into her room an hour after she was supposed to be asleep and she was so engrossed in a book that I had to take it away in order for her to get some rest! I’m guessing year 6 will be the year of the bookworm. (Note: She gets it from her Mama!)
As Ayva gets older, our relationship also matures. I’m praying that God will continue to bless us to be able to grow into true friends over the years. We’re already well on our way!
Happy Birthday to my little girl, Ayva. I can’t imagine life without her.
