Big Lots National Decorate Your Home For The Holidays Week

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming! Yes, honey, I’m one of those people that holiday purists loathe. Right after Halloween, I’m ready to completely skip over Thanksgiving and jump right into the Yuletide spirit! It’s not that I don’t like Thanksgiving, it’s just that basically it’s a rehearsal, right? Like, practice for Christmas. Well, I don’t need a run-through, I’m ready for the main event!

National Decorate Your Home For The Holidays Week

Even though I love me some Christmas, when it comes to decorating, I often wait until the last minute. This year is going to be totally different. Did you know that November 16th – 22nd is National Decorate Your Home For The Holidays week? How fabulous is that? I’m pairing my premature adoration of all things holly jolly with some early shopping at Big Lots, and I’m going to have our entire home trimmed in just a few weeks!

Big Lots Holiday Sneak Peek

Why decorate early? If you’re family is anything like mine, as soon as the decorations go up, everyone is instantly in a better mood. There’s something about twinkling lights and snowman that brighten spirits. At Big Lots, I found so many charming holiday pieces that I can’t wait to display and look at every day. From the sparkling reindeer that I gravitated towards immediately, to the earthy burlap ribbons, my senses were in overload as I browsed and shopped the Christmas selection at Big Lots last week. I’m easily enamored with anything that’s adorable and Christmas themed. Big Lots has a boatload of big deals for big ideas, and I wanted to buy ALL THE THINGS!  Since Big Lots is North America’s largest broadline closeout retailer, I’ve been able to really stretch a dollar, and buy most of the things. Ha! Hooray for Christmas!

Who Will Be The #BIGHoliday Master Decorator?

There’s something else that’s motivating my early decorating. I’m competing against 5 other Bloggers to win the title of the Big Lots #BIGHoliday Master Decorator! Y’all…I want to win so bad! I know that I’m an underdog. Our place is small. Transforming it without annoying my husband (who is decidedly less extremely festive than I am) will be a challenge. I’m not a fancy decorator type. My M.O. is usually just to put everything I like together in one room whether it matches or not. I’m determined to work through these minor issues, though, and end up victorious!

Here’s a peek of the room that we’re decorating. Yes, the ottoman is a mess, but don’t worry, when I bust out this #BIGHoliday spirit on it, it’ll be fine. Ha! Even though I’ve already finished my shopping, but I’d love to get your thoughts on how you would transform this space for the holidays:

Did you say Thanksgiving was rehearsal for Christmas. I’d laugh out loud, but I might wake the kids. I’m all about the last quarter of the year – okay, who am I kidding, the last THIRD of the year and this time of year just makes me so happy! Bring on Christmas WITH Thanksgiving, I’m here for it! Good luck!

I’m drooling over that ottoman. It’s huge and I love it. Good luck on the decorating front. It’s near and dear to me, so I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I love the Ottoman! I’m notorious for waiting until the last minute to begin my home’s transformation. I just put up lights in my living room this weekend and it already has me in the spirit. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for posting this. I never shop at Big Lots for Christmas decorations. I think I will now after visiting the website and seeing all the beautiful decorations. I also love the ottoman.
