School is back in session and my super student is ready! Gold Emblem Abound snacks are the perfect addition to any lunch. This is a sponsored story. #CVSTrailmakers
Way back when I was a new mom and Ayva was just a little baby, the idea of her going off to elementary school seemed so far away. It’s pretty amazing how fast time flies, though. She’s a big girl now, a six-year-old, and a budding little scholar. As she continues to grow up and become more and more independent, Terrence and I are holding on to as much parental responsibility as we can because it makes us feel good to know that she still needs us. It’s also a way that we show her how much we love her.
Every night before school, Terrence makes Ayva’s lunch. He shops on Sunday afternoon to pick up all of the things that she likes, and lovingly packs her lunchbox for the next day. Every once in awhile, if he has to work late, I cover for him. They have the system pretty set. He knows that she changes her mind about what she likes every week, so he never gets too attached to a menu. When I fill in for him, the kitchen is already stocked with Ayva’s favorite things.
Whenever I pack lunch, since I do it so infrequently, I try to make it extra special. I add a little note, an extra treat, or put things in a different lunch box or container. It makes me feel good to think about how excited she’s going to be when she discovers what I packed for her.
You know, school isn’t easy. It’s a big deal to leave your mommy and go off to a place where there are lots of new rules and expectations. Ayva really was able to adapt well as a kindergartener last year, and we have high hopes for her this year. The teachers frequently tell us how nice Ayva was to her friends, or how well she did on a lesson. Our little scholar is super, and she deserves special snacks!
We love the Gold Emblem Abound line at CVS/pharmacy because they taste great, and they’re really good for you, too. We can put them in Ayva’s lunch knowing that there are no artificial flavors or preservatives. The Strawberry Crisps are REAL strawberries. The Superfruit Snack Bars are made with actual fruit. Good food leads to good grades, and we all want that for our Ayva.
Yeah. First grade. It’s crazy to see how fast Ayva is growing up. For now, though, we’ll keep packing her lunches, and hold on to our little baby for as long as she lets us.
