We took a break from making lunch thanks to Revolution Foods. They also sponsored this post!
You know what’s a challenging parenting task that no one ever tells you about? Packing lunch for school. Kids these days are so finicky! When I was growing up, my parents packed a sandwich and I ate it or else. Not my child. She is super opinionated about what she likes and wants in her lunchbox each day, and since I want her to eat and have energy, Terrence and I oblige for the most part.
Before I go any further, I need to be honest. I don’t pack Ayva’s lunch, Terrence does. I’m just the crazy lady on the sidelines offering commentary, “Do you think she needs all of those carrots?” He loves it. Not really. He did love it, however, when I introduced him to Revolution Foods and their line of lunch products. Oh, after nearly 100 days of school, he was definitely ready for a #LunchMakingBreak!
Revolution Foods was founded by two moms who wanted to change the way America eats, so you know they know what kids need to be able to make it through a busy day in school. They are going about it by providing healthy and delicious meals in schools and directly to parents. In fact, Terrence works at a non-profit that serves students in the summer and they feed the children freshly prepared meals with Revolution Foods. Even before Ayva even tried the first lunch, we were already certain we had a win. Not only are the meals already-made, but there are no artificial flavors or preservatives.
Ayva had a week’s worth of lunch (which means Terrence had a nice long lunch vacation!) that started with a Revolution Food Jet Packs meal on Sunday after church. She microwaved the yummy Popcorn Chicken to warm it up (they’re fully cooked so you don’t really need to microwave it unless you want to), and gobbled it all down in just a few minutes. I snuck in to grab a nibble and thought the chicken tasted fantastic.
After that, it got a little tricky. Revolution Foods has these amazing Lunch Bundles that are totally perfect for a working mama like myself, but when Ayva saw the Superfood Energizer Lunch Bundle with veggie crisps, trail mix and dark chocolate raisins, homegirl was not having it. She insisted on taking it for lunch, and what can I say? I know how much she loves a good snack/lunch (a hearty snack that is suitable for lunch) and it’s not often that I can find something that packs enough protein to satiate her and keep her going all afternoon long.
She also tried the Sun Dipper Lunch Bundle with superfood trail mix, dried bananas and more, other Revolution Foods Jet Packs varieties like Turkey & Cheddar. She was a happy camper at lunch, and for once in a long time, she ate all of her lunch. It was a #LunchMakingBreak Miracle!
