Next week starts a busy season for me of meetings, events, and lots of getting together with folks outside of the home. Because I don’t have to leave my house in order to go to work, the first thing that I thought about as my schedule filled up was what in the world I was going to wear. I’m not stressing out, though, because I’ve figured out the secret to looking good every time I step out. And guess what? I love y’all so much that I’m going to share this incredibly useful piece of knowledge with you.
When it comes to fashion, figure out what looks good on you, and stick with it.
It’s so easy, right? Alright, let me go into a little bit of detail just in case you’re not following. Take me, for instance. When I go to conferences, weddings, or any other occasion, I wear a-line or midi-dresses. I always bring a cardigan or a blazer with me, and 97% of the time I have a scarf in my bag. I like florals and texture (like lace), and a very simple design with fabric that I don’t have to iron and that I can move in. I’ve mastered my style to the point that even my husband can point out when a dress “looks” like me.
It saves me from a lot of angst when I go shopping, and headaches when I’m shopping in a short time frame. By sticking with what looks good on me based on my previous experiences, I can literally find a dress that works for me in 10 minutes or less at any store that I shop at.
I know what you’re going to say. Fashion is supposed to be adventure and trying things. If you wear the same style all of the time, you’ll turn into a fuddy duddy. Nope. False. I still experiment with colors and patterns, and change up my jewelry and shoes. Also, just because I know what works for me doesn’t mean I don’t give other styles a try, I just don’t have to worry if they don’t work out since I can go back to my old faithfuls! In order to feel confident, I have to comfortable, and knowing for a fact, that I look good, aids in that comfort.
