Be Creative With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 & Pen.Up

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I’m an Android gal through and through, so I’m always on the lookout for really cool things that my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone can do. I love the fantastic pictures I’m able to take with my phone, and other cool features like pop up play which lets me play videos regardless of what screen I’m looking at. Well, I think the S3 is awesome, so the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 absolutely blew me away!

What’s Cool About The Galaxy Note 3?

Lots of folks joked on me about the size of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, even my own husband! My sweet Ayva who is supposed to be on my side said, “Wow, Mom! I like your new tablet!” Well, they can laugh all they want, the size of the Note 3 puts other phones to shame! Now, I’ve had the S3 for over a year, so I’m used to a bigger screen, but even my beloved phone was no match for the Galaxy Note 3. Writing emails and watching videos on YouTube was so much easier, and I really felt like I could get as much work done with the Galaxy Note 3 as I could with a tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 also comes with some pretty neat features. First, aesthetically, it’s just pretty, y’all. The white leather back of the phablet that I have is just gorgeous and totally made me feel glam when I used it. The multi-tasking apps that are standard on the phone are perfect for a crazy right-brainer like myself. I like to go from one thing to the next quickly, and the S pen partnered with the  features like S Note and Screen Write make it easy for me to work like a maniac even without a computer. The apps options for the Galaxy Note 3 are diverse and interesting. These aren’t generic apps that  are just taking up space!

What’s Cool About Pen.Up?

Pen.Up is one of those apps that makes the Galaxy Note 3 so awesome. It’s an online community for artists and people who just want to be inspired. Folks can upload their S Pen generated pictures to Pen.Up, and their peers can mark it as favorite, repost it, or comment on it. Inside the community, there are subgroups based on the type of art that you’re interested in following. I’m a Blogger, so of course I love checking out the Lettering artists, and I’m always inspired by the graffiti artists. The artists that are on Pen.Up are mostly pretty serious, so even if you don’t draw, if you’re into art, it’s like having the opportunity to curate your very own digital museum based on your favorite pictures.

I can see this app being used in the classroom with older students, and even incorporated into a social media and/or art curriculum. It takes everything that young folks love about digital communities, and gives them a space to be creative and collaborative. Pen.Up comes pre-installed on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, so if you have a chance to check one out, you definitely should! Let your inner artist out without pen and paper!

  1. Oooooooooooo this is cool. I have a different tablet that I use for everything but Imma have to seriously consider this to be a option for myself.

  2. This looks like a device that my teen son would love — he has been begging for a tablet since forever! I’ll go check it out!

Check it out for your teen, but then purchase it for yourself and give him your old phone! LOL! @MELISASource:disqus

I have a case of the jealousies for your phone. Seems like mine can only dial, text, email and take blurry pictures…lol

    • BrandiJeter says:

Haha! What kind of phone do you have, @diaryofa1sttimemom:disqus? For photos, it may just be a matter of changing the setting.

  5. Mandi Buckner says:

My phone needs a major upgrade. It slides open (yea) and calls people. That’s it. I have heard so many good things about the Note. My sis loves hers. I’m definitely going to check it out and see if its in my price range to do.

I am a gadget person. One of the best things about all the new gadgets is the apps because a phone call is a phone call, but the special things apps can do are incredible.

  7. I have my eye on the Note 3. Last year when Danny and I got our phones he traded in his Galaxy 3 for the Note 2. Now that Verizon has lifted the limit on when one can upgrade their phone I am hoping to get it for Christmas :)
